How to Choose a Digital Marketing Agency in Delhi: A 2026 Checklist

By the Mediamozak Team4 min read

Delhi has thousands of digital marketing agencies, from one-person freelancers in Laxmi Nagar to large teams in Connaught Place and Gurugram. Most of them promise the same things: more leads, page-one rankings and "viral" content. This checklist helps you look past the pitch and pick a partner that will actually grow your business.

1. Start with your goal, not the agency's service list

Before you speak to anyone, write down the one result you need in the next six months. For example:

  • "30 qualified enquiries a month for our interior design studio in South Delhi."
  • "Bring our online store's cost per order below ₹250."
  • "Rank in the top three on Google Maps for 'dentist in Janakpuri'."

A clear goal tells you which skills matter most. A local clinic needs local SEO and Google Business Profile work. A D2C brand needs performance marketing and conversion-focused landing pages. An agency that tries to sell you every service on day one is usually selling, not planning.

2. Ask how they will measure success

Good agencies talk in business numbers: leads, cost per lead, sales, return on ad spend and revenue. Be careful with reports that only show impressions, reach or follower counts. Those numbers can rise while your sales stay flat.

Ask every agency these three questions:

  1. Which numbers will you report every month, and where will the data come from?
  2. Will I own the ad accounts, Google Analytics and Search Console? (The answer should be yes.)
  3. How will you track calls and WhatsApp enquiries, not just form fills?

In India, a large share of enquiries arrive by phone and WhatsApp. An agency that can't track those will undercount its own results, or worse, can't tell which campaigns are working.

3. Check real work, not just logos

Client logos on a website prove very little. Ask for two or three case studies close to your industry and city, and ask to speak to one current client. Look for:

  • Before and after numbers with dates, not percentages without context.
  • Work similar to yours. Running ads for a national FMCG brand is different from generating leads for a Rajouri Garden showroom.
  • How long the client has stayed. Long relationships usually mean steady results.

4. Understand the pricing model

Agencies in Delhi usually charge in one of three ways:

ModelHow it worksBest for
Monthly retainerFixed fee for an agreed scope of workOngoing SEO, social media and content
Percentage of ad spendA share of what you spend on Google or Meta adsLarger ad budgets
Project feeOne-time price for a defined deliverableWebsite builds, audits, launch campaigns

Whatever the model, make sure the proposal lists exactly what is included each month: how many posts, ad creatives, blog articles or landing pages. Also check whether ad spend is billed separately from the agency fee. It almost always should be, and it should go straight from your card to Google or Meta.

5. Watch for these red flags

  • Guaranteed #1 rankings. Google itself says nobody can guarantee a ranking.
  • Ad accounts created in the agency's name. If you part ways, you lose your data and history.
  • Long lock-in contracts with no performance review point.
  • Bought followers or "bulk backlinks". These can get your accounts or website penalised.
  • No questions about your business. If they quote before understanding your margins and customers, the plan is a template.

6. Local knowledge matters

A Delhi-based team understands how customers here search and buy. People search in English, Hindi and Hinglish ("best gym near me in Dwarka", "sasta furniture Kirti Nagar"). Festive seasons like Diwali, Karva Chauth and wedding season change demand and ad costs. A local agency can also visit your store or office, shoot content on location and join review meetings in person.

7. Start with a 90-day trial plan

The safest way to hire is a clear 90-day plan with agreed targets. The first month covers setup and tracking, the second is testing, and the third is scaling what works. At the end, you review the numbers together and decide whether to continue. A confident agency will happily agree to this.

Quick checklist

  • The agency understood my goal and customers before quoting
  • I will own all ad, analytics and website accounts
  • Reporting covers leads, cost per lead and sales, including calls and WhatsApp
  • I have seen relevant case studies and spoken to a client
  • The monthly scope is written down and ad spend is separate
  • There is a review point at 90 days

Frequently asked questions

How much does a digital marketing agency in Delhi charge?

It depends on scope. Small businesses often start with a monthly retainer for one or two channels, while ad management is commonly priced as a fixed fee or a percentage of ad spend. Always compare proposals by what is delivered each month, not just the price.

How long does digital marketing take to show results?

Paid ads on Google and Meta can bring enquiries within the first few weeks once tracking is set up. SEO usually takes three to six months to show steady organic growth, and longer in competitive industries.

Should I hire a freelancer or an agency?

A freelancer can work well for a single task such as running one ad account. An agency is usually better when you need several skills together, such as ads, creatives, landing pages and SEO, with someone accountable for the overall result.
